Interpatent’s Team Welcomes Giorgio Contadin and Opens a New Office in Vicenza

We are glad to announce that, starting from 3 June 2025, Giorgio Contadin, a professional engineer with over twenty years of experience in the world of Intellectual Property, has joined our team.

Giorgio graduated in management engineering at the University of Padua and is a member of the Italian Industrial Property Consultants Institute. He is a licensed patent attorney before the European Patent Office (EPO) and a professional representative for trademarks and designs before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). He is also a European Patent Litigator admitted to practice before the Unified Patent Court and a substitute member of the Disciplinary Committee at the Italian Industrial Property Consultants Institute, as well as a member of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).

Giorgio currently deals with patents, designs, trademarks, technical consultancy relating to infringement actions and patent validity and contracts relating to Intellectual Property and will operate from our new office located in Vicenza, via E. Moneta 216, Spazio Pomari 216, telephone: +39(0)4441276333, e-mail: g.contadin@interpatent.com or vicenza@interpatent.com, recently opened to ensure a wider presence of our firm over the territory and to offer our clients an even closer and more customized range of services.

We had a brief chat with him to get to know him better. Here are some of the questions we asked him.

Q: Can you give us a brief description of your background?
A: “In 1999 I graduated in Management Engineering at the University of Padua with a dissertation on Product Certification. After working for about 3 years as a technical-commercial and production planning officer in industries of the Veneto Region, in March 2002 I began to operate in the field of Intellectual Property, acquiring over the years the role of Italian and European patent and trademark consultant and, lastly (in 2018), the qualification of European Patent Litigator which enables a patent consultant to operate before the newly created Unified Patent Court. I have worked for some of the leading IP consultancy firms - at first with local firms in Veneto and then with firms of wider (I would say, without exaggerating, national) importance - and now I am facing, with great and renewed enthusiasm, this new 'adventure' in INTERPATENT, where I have found very careful management and a young team, with motivated spirit and varied skills.”

Q: How did you come to be IP consultant?
A: “I got acquainted with the subject of patents and trademarks during some lessons held by an esteemed IP attorney at one of the degree courses of the engineering faculty I attended. I was immediately fascinated by the subject and as soon as the opportunity arose, offered by the firm of which that same IP attorney was the owner, I did not let it slip away.”

Q: Do you work both on the trademark side and the patent and design side?
A: “Yes, I deal with all issues related to Intellectual Property which, as is known, includes not only patents, trademarks and designs but also copyright. I also offer my technical assistance to clients in legal disputes related to industrial property rights, in close collaboration with the clients’ lawyers, and I sometimes also provide my contribution in drafting contracts related thereto (although in this case, always with the indispensable assistance of a lawyer).”

Q: What are the main industrial sectors of interest for Industrial Property in Veneto?
A: “In Veneto, the most active industrial sectors with respect to Industrial Property, at least as far as I am concerned, are the industry of machinery dedicated to the treatment of leather (tanning sector in general), the industry of product packaging, the goldsmith industry, the industry of household or gardening articles, the industry of machines for winding welding wire, the compressor industry, the catering industry, the industry of machinery for the cultivation of vines (sprayers, atomizers, pruning machines), just to name the main ones.”

Q: What are the critical issues for the future of Industrial Property for clients and consultants?
A: “For clients, it will be a commonplace to say, the most critical issues are globalization and the spread of potentially counterfeit products through the web: it is a challenge that clients must fight with great self-denial and conviction, otherwise they will inevitably succumb. For the consultant, the most complex challenge is that posed by the proliferation of services provided by unqualified subjects, now also exploiting AI, which increasingly end up debasing the importance of the professional contribution and the figure of the professional in Industrial Property. I truly believe that AI can be used as a first aid tool for IP professionals but will never be able to replace or surpass not only the professional skills of IP consultants but also their ability to relate and communicate directly with their clients.”

We are confident that Giorgio’s contribution will be invaluable in helping us reach new goals together and further enrich our working environment.

Welcome aboard, Giorgio!
